Evaluation at Land at The Croft, Welland

Two trenches, each 20m long and 1.8m wide were excavated at the site. The locations were altered slightly from the intended locations as set out in the WSI due to the presence of trees with fenced root protection zones, however the trenches were both opened within the footprints of the proposed buildings No features were present within the trenches. Two sherds of post Medieval buff ware were recovered from the subsoil. These are thought likely to have been deposited by manuring of the field
