Archaeological monitoring and recording took place at Bouchiers Hall, Kelvedon Road, Messing, Essex during groundworks for the construction of a rear extension. The development site is located within the Messing Conservation Area and Bouchiers Hall is a Grade II listed 15th- to 16th-century timber-framed house. Groundworks revealed a medieval ditch which produced a small assemblage of pottery dating from the mid-12th to the later 14th century.
