Abstract The relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity is widely acknowledged; however, obesity at the onset of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) is comparatively infrequent. We present the case of a 40-year-old woman who was diagnosed with LADA following substantial weight reduction after bariatric surgery. This atypical clinical presentation likely contributed to the delayed recognition of the diabetes subtype, ultimately culminating in diabetic ketoacidosis.
