This preprint introduces the Continuation Expectation Model, a descriptive framework for understanding why continuation can remain rational even when success is not guaranteed. The model does not treat continuation as a means to success or optimization, but as the maintenance of a non-zero possibility state under uncertainty. This manuscript is shared as a preprint for open access and discussion. A peer-reviewed submission is being considered, and the text may be revised accordingly.
