Urban slums in Dakar, Senegal present unique challenges for HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns due to high population density and limited access to healthcare. The study employed a mixed methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative focus groups to gather data from 300 participants across 5 selected slums. Focus group discussions revealed themes of improved understanding of HIV prevention and safer sex practices among campaign participants (82% reported increased knowledge). Findings suggest that comprehensive awareness campaigns can significantly enhance sexual health education in urban slum environments, warranting further targeted interventions. Future research should explore the long-term effects of these campaigns and evaluate their socio-economic impacts on communities.
