ABSTRACT Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), one of the significant greenhouse gases contributed to global warming and can serve as a plentiful, cost effective, and renewable C1 feedstock for functionalization of diverse reactive organic moieties. CO 2 has emerged as a promising substrate for organic transformation due to its less reactivity, wide availability, and non‐toxicity. Over the last decades, CO 2 insertion reactions which lead to beneficial products are gaining recognition because its not only mitigating the concentration of CO 2 but also enable its valorization, as a result contributing toward environmental and economic value. Various silver based nano catalyst can serve as heterogenous catalyst for various organic transformations such as carboxylation of alkynes, carboxylation of propargylic alcohols and amines and cycloaddition of CO 2 cyclic carbonates, oxazolidinones and lactones. Herein, we present a recent progress of silver‐based nano catalysts for the synthesis of different products such as propargylic alcohols and amines, cyclic carbonates, oxazolidinones, and lactones via CO 2 insertion reaction.
