Deterministic and Stochastic Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation of Social Media TikTok Addiction

TikTok is an entertainment app that allows users to share short videos on various topics, but excessive use can lead to physical, mental, and emotional health issues like exhaustion and depression. Recognizing the signs of TikTok addiction is crucial. This paper explores a deterministic and extended to the stochastic modeling of TikTok addiction within the human population. We begin with a deterministic model using nonlinear differential equations and then extend our analysis to a stochastic approach. We calculate basic reproduction numbers and show that both disease‐free and endemic equilibrium points are asymptotically stable under certain conditions. Using MATLAB for numerical simulations, we find that the number of addicted individuals increases with the interaction rate between susceptible users and TikTok addicted. As treatment for addiction improves, the recovery population grows while the number of addicted individuals decreases. The stochastic model provides a deeper understanding of addiction dynamics compared to the deterministic approach.
