Understanding the experiences of Generation Z new graduate nurses and the factors that influence their clinical reasoning ability assist in providing resources to transition to practice. This qualitative descriptive study used a convenience sampling of 12 Bachelor of Science in Nursing prepared nurses to identify themes of their experiences. Several common themes that impact clinical reasoning skill development were identified. These themes include human factors such as distraction, stress, fatigue, lack of time, lack of experience, lack of assertiveness, prioritization/assessment tools, and teamwork. Recognition and acknowledgment of the process for development of effective clinical reasoning ability should influence the approach of nurse educators and leaders to implement supportive resources within the workplace environment.
