Surface-functionalized tungsten disulfide (WS 2 ) Nano sheets were synthesized through hydrothermal, incorporating a chitosan-based biopolymer grafted with dithiocarbamate-functionalized N-vinyl caprolactam-co-acrylic acid (designated WS 2 @CS-g-DTC/P (NVCL-AA)). characterization (SEM, XRD, FTIR, PL, and UV-Vis) confirmed preservation of the 2H WS 2 structure and successful polymeric coating. The photocatalytic tests showed enhanced methyl orange degradation under visible light: 87% for WS 2 @CS-g-DTC/P (NVCL-AA versus 45% for pristine WS 2 . This study demonstrates that surface functionalization of WS 2 nanosheets with a chitosan-based biopolymer can effectively improve photocatalytic performance while maintaining the crystal structure, an approach that has been less explored in this field.
