The Sahel region of Gambia is facing increasing challenges from climate change, impacting human security through various dimensions such as food insecurity and displacement. The study employs mixed-methods including interviews, surveys, and policy document analysis to assess the interplay between environmental stressors and social outcomes. In the Sahel of Gambia, climate change has led to more frequent droughts and floods, resulting in a significant decline (40%) in agricultural productivity across affected regions. The study highlights the urgent need for enhanced early warning systems and community-based resilience programmes to mitigate future human security threats. Governments should prioritise climate-smart agriculture and integrate climate information into development plans, alongside fostering greater public awareness of climate risks.
