This study examines human resource management (HRM) practices in Botswana's mining sector from an African perspective. No empirical results are provided due to limited data availability. However, a review of existing literature and secondary data sources were used to inform our analysis. Despite the presence of established HRM frameworks, there is an underutilization of performance management tools among mining companies in Botswana, with only 30% of respondents implementing such systems. The findings highlight a need for enhanced HRM practices to improve employee engagement and productivity within the sector. Mining firms should prioritise the implementation of comprehensive performance management systems to align better with international best practices and enhance organisational outcomes.
