This article explores Muscular Dystrophy from a holistic Ayurvedic perspective, emphasizing compassionate and supportive care in pediatric patients. Muscular dystrophy, a group of inherited disorders characterized by progressive muscle degeneration, presents significant physical and emotional challenges for both children and caregivers. From an Ayurvedic viewpoint, the condition can be understood in relation to Mamsavaha sroto dusti, Mamsa kshaya, and Mamsa-medogata vata, with a background of Bija dosha (genetic predisposition). The article highlights the role of aggravated Vata in disrupting tissue nourishment (Dhatu poshana) and contributing to progressive weakness. The paper focuses on practical, long-term management strategies including daily Abhyanga, gentle routines, dietary regulation, and emotional support. It also discusses the integration of modern supportive care with Ayurvedic principles to enhance quality of life, rather than claiming curative outcomes. This work aims to guide caregivers and practitioners toward a balanced, compassionate, and sustainable approach to managing muscular dystrophy in children.
