This research proposes a walking guidance system for visually impaired individuals that utilizes environmental measurement with a depth camera and a head rotation device. By inducing head rotation, the system aims to generate a follow-up response in the trunk, thereby achieving unconscious walking guidance. Furthermore, grasping the passable area is indispensable for determining the guidance direction. This report demonstrates the potential of walking guidance via the head rotation device and describes a method for extracting walkable areas using a depth camera.
