In ecology, many research groups collect similar types of data, but there are no community-defined tools for data entry. SPI-BirDES will develop an open, modular data entry platform for researchers studying wild breeding birds across the globe. This platform will make it easier for scientists to collect, organise, and standardise their field data, supporting open science and FAIR data management practices. SPI-BirDES will be designed in close collaboration with the research community and will be freely available to all users. By improving data quality and access, the platform will enable researchers to manage, integrate, and reuse valuable long-term ecological datasets.
