ABSTRACT In recent times, dental surgery needs more specialized skill; it requires an integrated approach that merges interpersonal capability with clinical efficiency. Soft skills such as communication, emotional connection, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and cultural intelligence are crucial for encouraging trust, minimizing patient stress, and enhancing treatment results. This narrative review explores the significance of soft skills in dental surgery, their influence on patient satisfaction and clinical success and strategies for the personal and professional growth of dental surgeons. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar data platforms from 2010 to 2025 with keywords including soft skills, communication in dentistry, emotional awareness, and dental practitioners growth. The evolution of relevant clinical studies, reviews, and guidelines revealed that training in soft skills advances patient accordance, trust, and fulfilment when decreasing risk in the medical field and clinician stress. Emotional awareness and efficient communication play an important role in reducing patient fear, encouraging informed decision- making, and enhancing the doctor–patient relationship. Incorporating systemic training modules, analytical practices, and continuous feedback systems into dental education can considerably advances theses capabilities. Therefore, soft skills, quality of patient care, and clinical excellence should be identified as crucial components of modern dentistry.
