The BECC TOEIC Training Program at Hiroshima Bunkyo University has run annually from 2020 to 2025 as a four-week intensive study program aimed at raising participants’ TOEIC scores by fifty points. The program features a hybrid of advisor led-guidance and autonomous learning: participants complete TOEIC practice tests, meet weekly with Learning Advisors to set goals, identify strengths and weaknesses, consider learning resources, and determine a study plan. Students also complete weekly guided tutorials from Learning Advisors about how to most effectively tackle each TOEIC section and complete practice questions together demonstrating these techniques. As an update to a 2021 study by Rutson-Griffiths and Svien that looked at the program after two years, this paper provides an updated look at the program ’s overall process before delving into the results. Overall, when comparing program pre-program and post-program TOEIC scores across the six years, participants’ TOEIC scores significantly increased over their nonparticipant peers. Post-program surveys indicate high satisfaction among participants, with numerous elements considered useful to their learning. Students also were found to overwhelmingly recommend this program to their peers on both a standard Likert-scale ranking and on a formal Net Promoter Score evaluation. Finally, some implications and future recommendations for the program are discussed.
