An allergic reaction may be triggered by "hidden" allergens other than the active substances administered beforehand. Latex and chlorhexidine are two classic "hidden" allergens in perioperative allergy, and more broadly during medical interventions, to be considered to prevent recurrence. This article discuss the features of these allergies, the allergological work-up to perform, the risk of cross reactivity between chlorhexidine, latex and biguanides disinfectants and exotic fruits respectively, as well as the subsequent recommendations of avoidance.
