Our research is aimed at working out and scientific reasoning of a model of developing readiness of maritime graduates for profession-oriented foreign-language communication by means of contextual learning. It is to note that the idea of designing the above mentioned model emerged from the ambition to overcome the antilogy between strict requirements to seafarers’ English language proficiency and restricting the English language teaching process to learning professional terms, standard phrases, clichés and reading scientific writings and technical texts as well as experience gap of maritime graduates in speaking English while performing their professional duties.
