Maxwell’s equations possess a Duality symmetry. This permits pseudo-scalar magnetic charges or monopoles, to exist. However, they do not exist. I hypothesise that scalar magnetic charges do exist. Their ‘dual’ fields satisfy Maxwell’s equations. They have reversed parities compared to ordinary electromagnetic fields. Therefore the two types of fields cannot interfere. Associated with the scalar magnetic charges is a hierachy of massive particles dual to that of ordinary particles, with which they do not interact. Nor do they interact with ordinary electromagnetic fields and light – except by gravitation. Thus, they have the properties ascribed to ‘Dark Matter’.
