Sources of pathogens causing pleuropulmonary infections after lung cancer resection

Our results indicate that pathogens that cause pleuropulmonary infective complications are probably acquired postoperatively from the patient's oral cavity, pharynx and hypopharynx. Appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis is discussed.
