T he goal of this statement is to develop consensus recom- mendations aimed at measuring and optimizing outcomes after in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA). For the purposes of this statement, IHCA is defined as a cardiac arrest that occurs in a hospital (whether the patient is admitted or not) and for which resuscitation is attempted with chest compressions, defibrillation, or both.
