Room-temperature electroluminescence was realized from an OILED (organic−inorganic light-emitting device) by employing a hybrid organic−inorganic perovskite as the emission layer. The hybrid perovskite consists of a specially modified quaterthiophene dye incorporated within infinite, lead halide perovskite sheets. Relatively efficient (0.1 lm/W) green emission (λmax = 530 nm), with low turn-on voltages (5.5 V), was obtained from a device with a 3000-Å-thick emission layer.
