Yield, soil physico-chemical properties and economics of green onion as influenced by integrated nutrient management

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2021-22 at College of Horticulture, S. D. Agricultural University, Jagudan, Dist. Mehsana, Gujarat to evolve an integrated nutrient management (INM) strategy for green onion. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) replicated thrice with 16 nutrient management treatments of different organic, bio-enhancer and inorganic sources. Conjunctive use of 100% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through vermicompost containing 1.12, 0.35 and 0.56% of N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively, applied at planting (4.46 t ha-1) + NPK consortia (2.5 L ha-1) i.e. T6 had resulted in maximum green onion yield (66.67 t ha-1). Integrated use of vermicompost with NPK consortia (T6) also improved N, P and K status of soil. The maximum available nitrogen (195.93 kg ha-1), available phosphorus (46.54 kg ha-1) and available potassium (296.25 kg ha-1) were recorded in the treatment 100% RDN through vermicompost + NPK consortia (T6). Combination of vermicompost (4.46 t ha-1) + NPK consortia (2.5 L ha-1) i.e. T6 also resulting in maximum net realization (₹ 4,68,948 ha-1) and benefit: cost ratio (3.37).
