Following the results of a desk-based assessment, a group of shielings and a boundary dyke were identified to the eastern end of the water main, north of Loch na Meilich. Two follow up visits to the area were made, the first consisting of a walk over survey checking for upstanding archaeological remains and flagging known NMRS sites for the attention of the contractors on site. During the second site visit the sites were surveyed using a DGPS unit in mapping mode, photographed and recorded. The construction work was closely monitored. One new shieling hut was recorded, previously not noted within the NMRS or SMR record, at the foot of the western flank of Meall Daimh.
