Level 2 building record associated with re-thatching the Grade II listed Vine Yard Cottage Monitoring and recording of re-thatching and associated work at Vine Yard Cottage, near Corfe Castle (Dorset), recorded elements of the timber roof structure and other fabric of this Grade II listed building. The roof over the original part of the cottage appears to be late 18th century at the earliest (the building is listed as late 17th 18th century in origin) while the trusses, purlins and rafters over the kitchen extension to the north are machine sawn and of later 19th-century date at best. A small extension to the west may have been built quite early in the development of the property, but its roof too was of the later 19th century at the earliest. This roof had very extensive modern repairs in distinct phases, probably from the 1980s, 1990s and the current millennium.
