Treatment planning can be challenging when older patients present with multiple dental issues alongside complex social and medical histories. It is essential that all options are considered and discussed with the relevant parties before creating a treatment plan. Older adults may depend on others for mouthcare and assistance with transport to the dental practice. Multimorbidity is common, so several additional factors may need consideration. Dental treatment might require domiciliary care, sedation and minimally invasive dentistry. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Treatment planning for the older adult should incorporate prevention of pain/infection and treatment of disease.
