The United Nations reports that “climate change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment.” In business and in the public sector, consumers are often targeted based on their geographic location. Research on the differences between rural and urban settings is extensive in the US. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 20 percent of Americans live in a rural setting. From a health standpoint, for example, research has found that rural Americans are more likely to live in poverty, experience higher mortality rates, and have poorer health than suburban residents.
