Abstract:Objective:To explore the application effect of the PDCA cycle(Plan-Do-Check-Act)in the continuous quality improvement of hand hygiene in hospitals, construct a scientific and efficient hand hygiene management system, reduce the incidence of healthcare-associated infections(HAIs),and improve the level of medical service safety. Methods:A 12-month study was conducted at Zigong No.1 People's Hospital from July 2024 to June 2025. All clinical medical staff, nursing interns, and medical technicians in the hospital were included as research subjects. Routine hand hygiene management was implemented from July to December 2024 (control group),and continuous quality improvement of hand hygiene based on the PDCA cycle was carried out from January to June 2025(observation group). Through the Plan phase(identifying problems and formulating plans),Do phase (implementing intervention measures),Check phase(quantitatively evaluating effects),and Act phase(summarizing and optimizing to form closed-loop management),the hand hygiene compliance rate, hand hygiene knowledge awareness rate, incidence of HAIs,and incidence of multidrug-resistant organism(MDRO)infections were compared between the two groups.
