This interview is part of the “Caste in Canada” oral history project. “Caste in Canada” comprises interviews with nineteen Canadians of Dalit background, documenting their histories, experiences, and understanding of the implications of caste in Canada. The subject of this interview, Kamaljit, has been dedicated to activism since arriving in Vancouver in 2017 as an international student. This interview includes two promotional videos. In this interview, Kamaljit speaks about his experience navigating caste as an international student in North America, inspiration from Ambedkar’s writings and his own Dalit activism.
