Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is the most common chronic respiratory disease in premature infants, posing a serious threat to their lives and affecting their long-term quality of life. The smaller the gestational age at birth, the higher the incidence of BPD in preterm infants. The authors conducted a narrative review of the high-risk factors for development of BPD and outline the major nursing interventions used in the care of such infants.
