Abstract Double corrugated cold‐formed steel arches are widely applied as roofing systems in industrial buildings, with spans of 20‐30 m. Their production includes roll‐forming a flat sheet into an open channel cross‐section and bending it into an arch by introducing transverse corrugations. These corrugations affect the effective cross‐sectional properties, which cannot be evaluated using current design codes. In this work, flat and corrugated profiles are compared: the flat profile is assessed by Eurocode 3, while the corrugated one employs orthotropic plate theory. The results, compared with FEM simulations, demonstrate reduction in effective area and emphasize the influence of corrugations on the structural performance of steel arches.
