Addressing the environmental factors that contribute to childhood obesity is essential in preventing excessive weight gain. Latino youth are at higher risk to experience childhood obesity. The objective of this project was to develop a health and wellness exploratory protocol within a Latino faith-based setting to address this issue. Using Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) allows for collaboration between participants and researchers. Developing an exploratory protocol for a wellness intervention fosters connections between health promoting behaviors in families and their faith. Wellness interventions aligned with faith practices can be health promoting for the entire community.
