Infections after high-voltage cardiac implantable electronic device replacements
PICO estructurado
P
Población
298 patients who underwent generator replacement of a transvenous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) or cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D), median age 68.8, 31.5% women, multinational (Finland and Sweden). Excluded: simultaneous lead revision or device upgrade, heart transplantation shortly after replacement.
I
Intervención
High-voltage cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) generator replacement with standard infection prevention measures (procedural antibiotic prophylaxis in 100%, antibacterial envelope in 51.3%).
O
Resultado
Incidence of a procedure-related infection during follow-up (minimum 6 months).safety
The incidence of procedure-related infections after high-voltage CIED replacement can be maintained at a very low level (1.0%) when guideline-based infection prevention measures are rigorously applied.
