This article highlights the pedagogical foundations of developing the cognitive activity of primary school students in the process of working with literary texts. The significance of the reading subject in developing students’ thinking, attention, memory, imagination, and independent thinking is analyzed. In addition, the effectiveness of interactive methods, innovative pedagogical technologies, and modern approaches in teaching literary texts is revealed. During the research, issues related to improving students’ intellectual and speech activity through the development of reading comprehension competence were examined.
