This framework accommodates findings from genetic and biomarker studies in suicidal patients. Owing to its effect on lipid raft organization, the fish-oil component docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) might modulate these processes and potentially reduce suicide risk in individuals with low cholesterol levels.
