Effect of Diabetes and Insulin on the Maximum Capacity of the Renal Tubules to Reabsorb Glucose 1

Glycosuria occurs whenever the amount of glu- cose filtered by the glomeruli exceeds the reab- sorptive capacity of the tubules. The glycosuria of diabetes, therefore, is dependent not only on the degree of hyperglycemia but also on the concur- rent glucose reabsorptive capacity.
