Objective We examined the pain-relieving effect of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia performed by emergency physicians on elderly hip fracture patients.
Lee et al. (Fri,) conducted a case-control in Hip fractures (n=47). Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia (three-in-one femoral block) vs. Intravenous morphine was evaluated on Successful pain control (pain score < 4 within 4 hours) (p=<0.001). Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia achieved successful pain control in 96.0% of elderly hip fracture patients compared to 40.9% with intravenous morphine.
