Volume 2, the Alphabetic Index, will appear shortly. By international agreement, this classification is to be used by member countries for mortality and morbidity statistics after December 1978. ICD-9, the successor toICD-8, is the product of a decade of work culminating in the Ninth Revision Conference held in Geneva in 1975.
