ABSTRACT Xanthopsia, a yellow-tinted visual disturbance, is a rarely reported adverse effect of furosemide. We present the case of a 45-year-old man with alcohol-related cirrhosis who developed reversible xanthopsia shortly after initiating furosemide for ascites management. Symptoms resolved on discontinuation of the drug. This case highlights a rare but important potential side effect of a commonly prescribed loop diuretic, particularly in patients with hepatic dysfunction, where altered pharmacokinetics may increase toxicity risk. Clinicians should maintain vigilance for visual symptoms when prescribing furosemide, especially in patients with renal and liver dysfunction.
