Abstract After a reading of Paul Piccone's "The Crisis of One-Dimensionality," one suspects that it is the work of a man gone adrift in a fourth dimension or a twilight zone. While it is certain that Piccone is beyond critical theory, it is not clear as to whether or not he is entirely beyond any form of Marxism. The reader has difficulty rendering such a judgment due to Piccone's failure to indicate just what aspects of Marxist analysis retain any utility. Now, although Piccone may justifiably take critical theory to task for "the unwarranted retention of too much traditional Marxist baggage," it is just as debilitating to embark on an intellectual journey equipped merely with the clothes on one's back.
