Abstract Brain tumours extracts have been studied against anti brain immune sera and antiglioblastoma immune sera. The common antigens that are present in all organs are present in tumour extracts, but the brain specific antigens studied were found in the extracts in a small quantity. Lactoferrin was also present in the tumour extracts. No “carcinoembryonic” antigen was detected. The antiglioblastoma immune sera were also able to detect an hepatosplenic antigen at a trace level in some tumours. The origin of this antigen and of lactoferrin is discussed. No anti‐tumour auto‐antibodies were detected, whereas a positive fluorescent staining was obtained in all tumours by using human sera containing anti nuclear antibodies.
