The diffusion rate of noble gases in water has been measured by the mass-spectrometrical determination of the amount of noble gas diffused in a certain time through a water column of known size. For Xe the absolute value of the diffusion coefficient was measured; for the other noble gases the value relatively with respect to Xe. The diffusion coefficients are given for He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe at 0°, 25°, and 50°C.
