Social Workers, Unions, and Low Wage Workers: A Historical Perspective

Using primary and secondary sources, this article explores the relationship between social workers' and low-wage workers' efforts to improve their economic conditions, especially through unions. It examines ways in which the profession's mission has been interpreted and suggests some implications for social workers' roles in contemporary economic justice struggles.
