Lexical Representation of the Concept Конь (Horse) in Etymological and Explanatory Dictionaries of the Russian Language

The article examines lexical representation of the concept КОНЬ (HORSE) in the etymological and explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language. The concept КОНЬ is an integral element of the Russian linguistic worldview, so the study aims to describe the lexical filling of the concept by the material of dictionaries. The author offers a semantic characteristic of the concept basic names - the lexemes “конь” and “лошадь” and concludes that dictionaries represent semantic, stylistic and axiological differentiation of the synonyms “конь” and “лошадь”. The researcher points out that the “verbal and semantic world” of the concept КОНЬ gradually narrows.
