Research Article| August 01 2011 Ecomusicology: Ecocriticism and Musicology Aaron S. Allen Aaron S. Allen AARON S. ALLEN is assistant professor of musicology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he also serves on the faculty committee for the Environ mental Studies Program. He earned a BS in environmental studies and a BA in music from Tulane University in New Orleans, followed by a PhD in music from Harvard University with a dissertation on the reception of Beethoven in nineteenthcentury Italy. Allen is cofounder and currently chair of the Ecocriticism Study Group of the American Musicological Society. He is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome for 2011–12.
