The major features of multiple myeloma have been reviewed recently by Bayrd and Heck'5 and Lichtenstein and Jaffe.'6 It is a uniformly malignant disease progressing to a fatal termination in an interval varying from a few weeks to sometimes several years. The disease results essentially from the excessive proliferation of abnormal plasma or ' ' myeloma' ' cells within the bone marrow. Anemia, leukopenia and at times thrombocytopenia result.
