Parent-Child Interaction in Three Conversational Contexts: Variations in Style and Strategy

In this chapter the style and complexity of parents' language during story reading are contrasted with the style and complexity of their language in two other conversational contexts. The role of context and gender in shaping conversations and the effects of these conversations on children's language are examined.
