Transforming Household Waste Management: Design and Implementation of an IoT-Enabled Smart Dustbin System

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized waste management by connecting physical objects, or “things,” embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies to exchange data over the Internet. This paper proposes an IoT -based Smart Dustbin for the Household, a revolutionary concept that aims to improve cleanliness and waste management within homes. This innovative system integrates various hardware components to optimize bin functionality, offering distinct portals for both the garbage company and users. The implementation of this innovative system includes ultrasonic and humidity sensors. The system enables real-time monitoring of dustbin fill levels and moisture levels, ensuring efficient waste disposal. Moreover, the system segregates trash into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories, streamlining recycling efforts and promoting sustainability. The proposed system can be used to effectively monitor and manage waste accumulation.
