We live in an historical period in which knowledge is the most critical resource for social and economic development and people need to be able to participate in a networked, information-based society. Whereas previously people engaged in manufacturing-based work where they generally competed with or worked independently of each other, now people en-gage in information- and technological-rich work where they work in teams. People need to be able to work collaboratively in designing, using, and maintaining the tools of technology. Technology and teamwork will continuously play a larger role in most people’s lives.
