Resumen

The synthesis of a liquid-crystalline diepoxide 4-(3,4-epoxybutenyl)oxyphenyl 4-(3,4-epoxybutenyl)oxy benzoate is described. The photoinitiated cross-linking of this molecule, uniaxially oriented in the nematic state, to form an ordered network is studied. This network shows an increased birefringence which is maintained at high temperatures.
